We Are Matchstickmen...

Lewis Wright, Paul Robins, and Iain Forsyth first started plotting their musical careers back in 2005 --influenced by diverse rock groups ranging from Pearl Jam to Guns N' Roses. The trio began by playing cover versions acoustically at open-mic nights and then started to write their own material.

It was time to search for a drummer, and they found this in the form of Mr.Barrie May. With his intricate stick-work & concise beats, Barrie impressed the band and instantly filled the vacancy.

They decided to look for a second guitarist and Peter Donnelly (A fan of the band) offered his services. They jammed together and realised they had a great chemistry and Pete's thundering guitars would be a great asset.

The band was now complete.

The success story of Liverpool-based five-piece Matchstickmen looks set to scale new highs as the band prepare themselves for an industrious 2010.

Matchstickmen have played an array of prominent gigs including Carling supports, headline shows, festivals and have supported signed acts such as Baddies, Detroit Social Club, Dust, Eukera Machines, Electric Six and Skin.

With standout tracks like the band's latest single, Throwing Stones,which fuses gravely vocal work with arena ready rhythms, churning out a classic rock song in it's purest form and is attracting radio play far and wide.
